As you previously read, we had a little too much fun at NSS this year! I was particularly inspired by all the adorable packages wrapped up in Chewing the Cud's booth. You can jazz up pretty much anything with her fabric wraps.

As soon as the weather gets I a bit nicer (hello, sunshine? are you there?) I love the idea of wrapping up a batch of homemade cookies in one of her wraps to take on a picnic. We just got in Milk & Cookies Bakery's cookbook, so their classic chocolate chip is a must-try!

Paper Lover's DREAM at NSS!

Have you ever felt like a kid in a candy store.... as an adult? Well, I feel fortunate to feel like that everyday at Pink Olive but this week, I had the pleasure of feeling like a kid again at the National Stationery Show in NYC.

Here are some of our favorite finds that might peak your curiosity!

WHALES are the NEW OWLS!
YES, you heard it here! We are making a prediction that whales will become the next "new" owl! :) A couple of weeks ago, our lovely artist Kristiana Parn surprised us with her latest creation - Counting the Waves and it sold out in two seconds! We now have a waiting list of her mounted print on wood. Hmm... lightbulb!

But then... as we walked into the world of Owlabama, we realized that we spoke too soon. Owls are still HOT at Night Owl Paper Goods!

Maybe it's the tree {meaning of life and our Pink Olive tree} but we are LOV~ing anything that's on wood. Totally digging this new line that we found... they do these amazing letter burn-out wood banners and keepsakes for special occasions!

We had to take a little break to check out our new cookbook selection at the Chronicles books (WAIT 'til you see some of their new releases! It's our biggest order yet!)

Especially loving their NEW collaboration with one of my favorite designers Anna and Nathan Bond from Rifle Paper Co. (I guess you can say that I'm a little biased considering she designed my wedding invitations last Fall :)

Her new collection BLEW me away! All the gold metallic that was infused in her collection looked so fresh and NEW and loved this new bug print! Kawaii!

...and what can I say, Paris is still IN! Bonjour!

We can't forget the icing on the cake - the wrappers, the twines, stamps and galore! The selling on these fabric gift wraps have been HOT-cakes since they were featured on the TODAY show last week and now we're here for more!

Let's jazz it up with some metallic twines!

“So many cute clothes for little girls, but…what about for little boys??” That’s a question we hear a lot here at Pink Olive, but with the new addition of Fat Tie, an incredibly adorable line of boy’s tee-shirts, we are one step closer to never hearing it again!

Made out of 100% soft cotton, Fat Tie tees come in sizes from 12 months to 4 years,and in a variety of colors. All of the tees feature the Fat Tie signature—very charming, multi-colored “ties”! My personal favorite is the ‘Franklin’ tee. All of the tees are distinguished using cute boy’s names and super hip!

According to the designer, Fat Tie tees are for “kids who mean business!” We couldn’t agree more—we love them and know you will, too!

I have conquered the marshmallows! Yes, marshmallows are indeed a simple DIY project (who would've known, right?). Thanks to "Jam it, Pickle it, Cure it", I started with vanilla, chocolate, and by the end of my marshmallow-week spree, got a little wild and made chocolate chip.

This book is the best gift EVER for the food crafter in your life..since you will probably get to taste a project next time you see them! ;) Pair it up with one of rae's serving plates, a beautiful card, and voila!

one of my favorite things to do on my day off is to just walk around and check out beautiful storefronts and be inspired by all the creative details! so this weekend, i had a chance to finally check out the beautiful terrain in glen mills, PA and all i can say is.... WOW! i was blown away with the level of creativity and felt like i was immersed in nature! aaaah.... so relaxing :) even the food at the cafe was incredible... and the bread came out in a little pot! i was happy to see some of our brooklyn designers represented there as well... go brooklyn! :)

What a day of sweets...we started off breakfast with cupcakes at the store, my friend Bobbie dropped by and surprised me with cupcakes later, and a customer just came in to share treats from her cake tasting. Feb 9th might beat Valentine's Day for me :)

This week we went to NYIGF to check what was new and exciting in the gift world...phew, all that walking was a full work-out! It was great to see what our usual favorite lines were working on, as well as finding new artists doing fun work. Big kudos to Justine from Snow & Graham for having donuts at her booth! Hope everyone had a great holiday and that you made it through the blizzard! It was the perfect excuse to stay home and bake with the family. Speaking of baking...hands down, pumpkin cheddar muffins are the official 2010 Pink Olive holiday treat. hee-hee.

Our venture with these started when I received the Baked Explorations cookbook a little while ago...and after the first bite we were hooked! The perfect combo of sweet & savory with a kick of cayenne pepper, these are great for any occasion...here's the recipe we've been working with:

INGREDIENTS

*1 cup pumpkin puree
*3 tablespoons sour cream
*2 eggs
*1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted and cooled
*2 cups all-purpose flour
*1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
*1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
*1 1/2 teaspoons salt
*1 1/2 teaspoons freshly ground black pepper
*1/2 cup firmly packed dark brown sugar
*1 1/4 cups grated sharp cheddar

DIRECTIONS
*preheat oven to 400 degrees F
*lightly oil 12-muffin pan
*whisk together pumpkin and sour cream. Add eggs, butter, and whisk till combined
*in a separate bowl, whisk dry ingredients (flour, baking powder, cayenne pepper, salt, blk pepper, and brown sugar)
*make a well in the middle of the dry ingredients and pour the wet ingredients to fold until combined
*fold in 3/4 of the grated cheese
*divide batter in the muffin tin and sprinkle remaining cheddar on top
*bake for 15/20 minutes or until golden brown

tADAAA! and you now have delicious muffins to take to the New Year's party :)
