friday ~ eye candy gifts at NYIGF!

This week we went to NYIGF to check what was new and exciting in the gift world...phew, all that walking was a full work-out! It was great to see what our usual favorite lines were working on, as well as finding new artists doing fun work. Big kudos to Justine from Snow & Graham for having donuts at her booth! Just what we needed mid-day :)
With that said, there will be many new goodies coming into the stores the next upcoming months, so stay tuned!
Here is a sneak peek at our finds:

{new blabla duo! Balthazar the magician and his comely assistant}

{many new tutus by creative pamela}

{pencil coin banks, how cute huh? They also had ice cream cone ones!}

{maileg's booth looked like a fairy tale, we set camp there for quite a while...hard to leave! }

{finally i won't run for the hill seeing these critters}

{vintage-inspired craft organizers and tapes}

{retro tape dispensers}

hope you have a great weekend!

Parn-don me.... did someone say FREE gift?

Happy Monday!  We’re so excited for the Holidays! For the month of December, we’d like to give you a gift with any purchase of an artwork by Kristiana Parn. Each purchase will come with a greeting card that is a delightfully miniature version of Kristiana’s lovely paintings.

Her stylized scenes of nature and animals take the viewers into a world that belongs to the marveling child in all of us. Discover playful scenes like rabbits napping in marshmallow trees, foxes in rowboats, and polar bears rolling in snow. Each work is painted with visually beautiful muted tones of color with a hint of natural wood grain pattern.

Kristiana Parn's original acrylic paintings, the very affordable prints on archival paper and prints mounted on wood make wonderful gifts idea for this Holiday Season for just about anyone on your list.

In addition to the free gift, everyone is eligible to enter our raffle to win one of her mounted art prints! We’ll announce the winner right before Christmas.

maileg holiday dish towels

A customer had such a creative idea this weekend, I had to share! As soon as she saw our new Maileg dish towels, she got a couple to frame in the kitchen with vintage wooden frames. Love the idea! I always feel bad putting out pretty dish towels because...I don't want them to get dirty! The "just do the dishes" design is definitely going on my kitchen wall soon *ahem, also friendly reminder to everyone in my household ;)

Do you have other decorating ideas for dish towels? Please share!

it's time to bring good luck to family and home...

Pink Olive is really excited to introduce the utterly adorable danish designed maileg collection to the store. you, too, will quickly fall in love with the old fashioned scandinavian charm of the timeless, classic children’s toys and the handcrafted Christmas decorations.

have you met the danish pixy family yet?
pixy elves are a very old and favorite tradition of scandinavian christmases. each family farm is believed to have their very own pixy guardian spirit that will help out with the chores like grooming horses, baling hay and other farm tasks. to keep the little pixy satisfied, you must leave a little bowl of hot buttered porridge out on christmas eve. the pixy will leave presents in return.

now you can start your own pixy family tradition with the handmade cotton pixy ornaments or count down the days on the whimsical 5 foot tall pixy advent calendar. hide little gifts in each of his 24 individual pockets for little ones to find. these pixies will certainly be enjoyed and remembered by the family for years to come.

this christmas, if you are looking for unique toys with a nostalgic touch or longstanding decorations sure to become a favorite, come to Pink Olive and get swept away.

happy "pixy" shopping!

let there be light... for the little people!

it's scary to be in the dark. with less than three weeks left until we have to turn our clock an hour earlier, we want to shed some light to the little ones in your life.

these magical nightlights by white rabbit england will sure get you major kudos and be the center of attention to your child's bedroom or nursery. they are made of porcelain and hand-painted in delicate, natural colors with whimsical woodland fairy scenes and quaint cottages.

each enchanting nightlight looks as if it were straight from the pages of a beautifully illustrated fairytale. at night, peer into the windows of the storybook cottage and see the little white rabbits who live there hiding inside, or visit the fairy's toadstool home where she is hanging her wings to dry surrounded by her woodland friends. stop by the mushroom of bramble the elf with his friends, lizard hedgehog and mole. look out for our white rabbit hiding somewhere amongst the foliage!

let the soothing, gentle glow of dancing elves, fairies, and faraway cottages charm your little ones to sleep dreaming away of the enchanted forest. no need to fear darkness... let there be light!

happy "nightlight" shopping!
